Company History

Urban Fountains and Furniture is a family owned and operated business, and is managed by proprietors Gary and Claire Allan. Operating since 2001, Urban grew out of an earlier business where Gary had identified the growing market need for a stronger and more durable drink fountain.

After years of manufacturing other companies’ designs where long term durability were sacrificed for looks that couldn’t last, resulting in bigger long term expenses for the client, Gary set about designing a range of products that could look good and be highly functional and durable.

Likewise, the market had very little competition with just one or two major players who were charging exorbitant prices. Many product ranges out there are unable to be modified as they are cheaply mass-produced, and Gary and Claire saw that there was a need to make the market more competitive and give consumers more choice.

When Gary’s highly practical and cost effective designs proved very successful in the marketplace, he expanded the range to include not only other fountains but a large variety of high quality street furniture. As a result, all weaknesses and design faults of the products we offer are eliminated, while retaining the stylish look that streetscape designers and specifiers demand.

In 2008 Urban moved from their earlier premises at Archerfield to a purpose-built facility at Yatala. This has allowed greater operating capacity and the ability to continue to focus on high quality work, but on a much larger scale.
