General

Our current economy is linear, take-make-waste! A circular economy aims to redefine growth, focusing on positive society-wide benefits. It entails gradually decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources, and designing waste out of the system. Underpinned by a transition to renewable energy sources, the circular model builds economic, natural, and social capital. It is based on three principles:

  • Design out waste and pollution
  • Keep products and materials in use
  • Regenerate natural systems

The benefits of using a leasing scheme are many.

  • A capital cost is removed and replaced with a predictable ongoing operational cost.
  • The ability to upgrade and deal with major legislation, technology or standard changes can be done without major investment.
  • An increased number of assets can be deployed without increasing overall spending.
  • A focus gets put back on the manufacturer to increase useful life and ensure products are kept working for the maximum amount of time possible. Where leasing includes service and maintenance, internal resources can be deployed elsewhere.

Urban can review your individual needs and develop a leasing program for you. Leasing is an effective way to manage capital costs as well as future proofing against major technology or legislation change. Leasing can also help ensure asset life is maximised and provide a “hassle free” experience.

Typical considerations when leasing include:

  • Number of units to be leased and likely future need
  • Length of lease program, typically 3 or 5 years
  • Additional inclusions for lease arrangement (Service/Maintenance/additional warranty/product upgrades)

Yes, we can offer service and maintenance on all our products either as part of a leasing package or as a stand-alone program. Drinking Fountains need to be installed by a qualified plumber. Drinking Fountains

The WaterMark Certification Scheme is a mandatory certification scheme for plumbing and drainage products to ensure they are fit for purpose and appropriately authorised for use in plumbing and drainage installations. All drinking fountains and bottle fillers need to be WaterMarked to meet plumbing codes and regulations.
The AS1428 is the Australian standard for design for access and mobility for buildings and facilities. This standard is there to ensure equal access for all users. The AS1428.2 relates to design requirements for water dispensers to ensure disability access is achievable.

The short answer is that not all of our fountains are AS1428 compliant, but all of our Apollo range of fountains are disabled accessible. We do not state disabled compliant as we do not believe that the AS1428 standard is sufficient to cater to the needs of all disabled users.

There is no one size fits all approach to disability and wheelchair access. Wheelchairs can range from low sporty and child size wheelchairs to large bulky electric wheelchairs which would not fit easily under the current height in the standard.

All of our original fountains have been designed with input from the Paraquad society who believe the access code is discriminatory and not suitable for a majority of disabled users. Therefore, we have designed a range of fountains that suit a range of disabilities and various wheelchair access heights.

We supply hundreds of fountains each year to Councils throughout Australia and most agree that the access code needs to be considered when choosing a fountain but a practical approach needs to be taken to ensure that the fountain is suitable to the majority of its end users.

Seats, benches & picnic tables

We use a variety of hardwood timbers including spotted gum, iron bark, kwila, jarrah and blackbutt. We only source FSC certified timbers.

We are able to finish in timber, aluminium, composite or recycled plastic battens on most products. Some limitations apply, please contact us for more information.

All of our seating and tables are available in custom lengths.

Tree Grates

Tree Grates can come in a variety of sizes but the standard sizes are 1200x1200mm, 1200x1600mm and 1600x1600mm with a 380mm centre cut out. We can manufacture grates to any size and shape. Contact us for more information.

A load rated grate is a grate that complies with Australian Standard AS3996 for Access Covers & Grates. This standard defines the different classifications and ratings of grates to take certain weights of vehicles. We have Tree Grate designs that have been structurally certified to cover Class A to Class D rated grates.

Yes you can have any pattern or design on your grate however we have 5 standard designs available. If your design is detailed or intricate there may be an additional charge for preparing the drawings unless you are able to provide the CAD file.

If the trees are already in situ, we can provide a split frame that will go around your tree. Generally, once the frame is installed, we would come to site to measure the tree in relation to frame so that we can manufacture a grate that will fit perfectly around your tree in the frame. If the project is interstate, we will require accurate measurements from the project foreman.
Urban has a finish available that can be applied to their extensive range of tree grates. The Anti Slip finish has been given a rating to Australian Standards for anti-slip footpaths. The anti-slip finish is a good alternative to standard powder coating in high pedestrian traffic areas where there is increased risk of slipping, i.e. pedestrian shopping malls and schools.
