Investing in Urban Spaces: Why Quality Street Furniture Matters

Public spaces are more than just open areas — they are essential gathering points where communities come together to rest, connect, and recharge. In our latest ODS eNews article, we explore why investing in well-designed, durable street furniture matters now more than ever. Not only does it enhance the visual appeal of our urban environments, but it also plays a critical role in improving their functionality and safety. Ultimately, thoughtful design is more than a cosmetic upgrade — it’s a lasting investment in the wellbeing of our communities.

02. URBAN+ Outdoor Showers

By blending architectural appeal with commercial-grade toughness, Urban+ outdoor showers deliver both style and strength. Crafted from marine-grade 316 stainless steel, they are built to withstand the harshest coastal conditions. Whether installed at public pools, resorts, or beach access points, each unit is thoughtfully designed with timed activation — helping to reduce water waste while enhancing functionality in high-use environments.

03. URBAN+ Bike Racks

As bike-friendly cities continue to expand, the need for secure and stylish infrastructure grows alongside them. That’s where Urban+ bike racks come in — offering a practical blend of security, durability, and design appeal. Built for ease of use and long-term performance, they’re available in both single and multi-bay formats. Moreover, with customisation options to suit any location, they’re a reliable solution for councils, developers, and urban designers alike.

The end result is a vibrant splash zone that fosters play, encourages connection, and brings the community together in a fun and welcoming way.

05. URBAN+ Dog Agility Equipment

At Urban+, our vibrant, powder-coated galvanised steel dog agility gear is designed with fun and functionality in mind. Featuring tunnels, hoops, ramps, and jumps, each piece encourages movement and excitement to get tails wagging. Not only does it promote physical exercise and mental stimulation, but it also creates opportunities for social interaction — bringing communities together, one joyful zoomie at a time!

URBAN+ FUN FACT (UFF)

Brisbane’s iconic Eagle Street Fountain, also known as the Mooney Memorial Fountain, was unveiled between 1878 and 1880 as part of a city beautification project and to commemorate firefighter James Mooney. Featuring elegant lion-head spouts and rich Victorian-era detailing, it was one of the first public drinking fountains in Queensland—providing fresh water to city workers, schoolchildren, and residents. This heritage-listed fountain helped pave the way for modern public hydration in Australia.
